The first of its kind in Ireland, the Bureau promotes the city and its hinterland as a tourist and conference destination as well as providing a complete package of visitor services.

DVCB is a dynamic membership organisation supported by the private sector and Derry City Council. It is the cornerstone of future tourist development in Londonderry and markets the city energetically at home and abroad. Among its primary aims is to help visitors and tour companies put together tour and travel packages to spark imagination and delight.

From weekend breaks to regional tours, DVCB provides a one-stop shop to the Travel Trade. Whether it's information on events, golf courses, shopping, visitor attractions, accommodation contacts and suggested itineraries, DVCB delivers.

History

The Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau (DVCB) officially launched its new purpose built Foyle Street offices and Tourist Information Centre on Monday, December 1 1997. (The centre had been operationally since September 1997).

The opening of the landmark building marked the latest stage in the development of an organisation which pioneered the Visitor and Convention Bureau model in Ireland and since the offset attracted some 50 members initially. (Membership in 2010 had risen to approx 215)

The company achieved Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) status in 1998 and had TWO clearly identifiable roles Destination Marketing and Visitor Servicing.

The DVCB's Mission statement is:

"To promote the destination and its hinterland to the national and international tourist market place as an unique, historic, European city competing in world tourist markets and providing quality visitor services”
