Doagh Visitor Centre

The Doagh Visitor Centre provides a great variety of exhibitions telling the story of Famine, Fear and Eviction. It is also a place where the customs, traditions and history of the people of Inishowen are preserved in a permanent way.

The scene includes interdenominational Mass Rock, Presbyterian Meeting House and Orange Hall. This attraction is redesigned to become Ireland’s Lapland for the months of November and December.
  
Opening Hours:
Easter-October 10.00am-5.30pm daily.
November – December (Ireland's Lapland) 5.00pm – 9.00pm daily.

Fort Dunree Military Museum

Fort Dunree is located about seven miles north of Buncrana on the Inishowen peninsula in Co.Donegal. The site is situated along the shores of Lough Swilly commanding a majestic view of the Lough and it's shorelines.
 
The museum houses a fascinating display of military memorabilia and artefacts as well as an array of large guns from the twentieth century. There are audio-visual displays, scenic walks and a wildlife exhibition.

June - September Mon - Sat 10.30am - 6.00pm, Sun 1.00pm - 6.00pm
Winter Opening: Mon - Fri 10.30am - 4.30pm,Sat and Sun 1.00pm - 6.00pm

Situated in Greencastle harbour the museum displays a wide variety of marine
history. From the emigration story, to local fishing boats and methods. The brand new state of the art planetarium gives educational and entertaining

Iosas Centre and Celtic Prayer/Pilgrim Garden

Sponsored by the Columba Community of Prayer and Reconciliation. Iosas Centre, (Island of Saints and Scholars), is a six-acre prayer garden and visitor centre where the pilgrim is invited to reflect on the Irish Saints (5th to 12th Century) and their relevance today.

Individuals and groups can tour the garden, enjoy its wonderful peace and natural beauty and learn more about our common Christian Heritage.

There is a replica of the dry-stone cell of St Columba (Colmcille), St Canice's thatched Oratory and a magnificent bronze Celtic figure of the Risen Christ in the Trinity Circle.

Crafts on sale at the Visitors Centre include polished bog wood and handmade quilts worked by the residents of the adjoining Whiteoaks Rehabilitation Centre.  Meals and snacks can be provided.

Monday to Thursday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Friday 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays; 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Monreagh Manse Ulster-Scots Heritage Centre

 

Welcome to the Monreagh Ulster Scots Heritage Centre. From the Plantation of Ulster in the 17th century to emigration to the New World in the 18th and 19th centuries, Monreagh Ulster-Scots Heritage Centre tells the story of how the Ulster-Scots people had an impact on societies far beyond the island of Ireland.

The Centre also celebrates the lives of some of the most influential leaders and missionaries of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, including Francis Makemie, the founder of the Presbyterian Church in America.
